Lake Rousseau in West Central Florida
Lake Rousseau is a 3,657-acre man-made lake located in West Central Florida and surrounded by Levy, Citrus, and Marion Counties. The lake and surrounding waterways are important natural resources for local residents, visitors, anglers, boaters, and wildlife.
The Rainbow River and Withlacoochee River contribute fresh water to Lake Rousseau, creating an interconnected water system that supports a diverse freshwater environment.
Lake Rousseau is known for its fishing opportunities, natural cover, aquatic vegetation, and connection to the historic Withlacoochee River channel. The surrounding area also offers opportunities for boating, kayaking, swimming, wildlife viewing, and other outdoor activities.
Protecting Lake Rousseau means looking beyond the lake itself. The health of connected rivers and waterways plays an important role in maintaining water quality and a healthy ecosystem throughout the region.
